Deputy for School Affairs, Othman Al-Abduljabbar, said recently that for the forthcoming academic year, a homework book is to be distributed to students along with schoolbook bags.
Abduljabbar’s remarks came during the second meeting of the Ministry’s curriculums directors, held recently at the headquarters of Makkah’s Education Administration (Girls), and attended by Director of Education (Girls) in Makkah Hamid Al-Solami and the Director of the General Directorate of Curriculum, Dr. Miqrin Al-Miqrin.
Abduljabbar said CDs with digital copies of the curriculum had already been distributed this year along with regular paper schoolbooks, in an initial step that aims to spread the culture of computerization by eliminating traditional schoolbooks altogether, before the Ministry begins – within four years – to make its schoolbook content available online on its website.
He also added that the Ministry is looking to previous electronic education experiences carried out in some countries. In such countries, students carry lightweight, and easy-to-browse devices that contain the entire curriculum.
