The Ministry of Education has announced the establishment of intellectual awareness units in all education departments and universities in accordance with the approved operational model, in order to enhance the values of citizenship, moderation, and to stand up against all ideas of extremism and decadence.
His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh said: “The ministry aims to establish an intellectual awareness unit in every education department and university to enhance loyalty to religion and then to the rulers, and belonging to the homeland. In addition to spreading the values of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence, and preventing extremist thought and addressing its effects, and encouraging scientific and research initiatives in intellectual issues." He indicated that the unit would work to monitor violations, extremist and degenerate ideas and behaviors, and negative phenomena that would call for imbalance and departure from the matrix of societal values, in accordance with the controls set by the Ministry in light of the laws and regulations.
His Excellency added" The Ministry of Education in all its sectors intuits the importance of conscious and responsible citizenship in the performance of its educational institutions, and the keenness to deepen, prevent and immunize it from any threats that negatively affect its institutional reputation and the nation. He reiterated that the ministry would not allow educational institutions to be used to promote an extremist ideology, or to practice any behaviors that call for immorality , or the use of professional educational responsibility other than their national contexts.
Dr. Al Sheikh indicated, "The Intellectual Awareness Unit will work according to a specific strategy and disciplined administrative governance, through which the Ministry of Education seeks to achieve two aspects, namely strengthening (immunity and self-protection). Furthermore, monitoring negative phenomena, analyzing them, providing treatment programs for them, and protecting students, teachers, faculty members, and administrators from falling into any manifestations of an intellectual deviation. In addition to the (awareness) of the danger of slipping into suspicions in the open virtual world that has no limits, and contains many wicked people, and intellectual deception is active in it without stopping.
The Minister of Education emphasized that" the Intellectual Awareness Unit will work withing its field to implement plans, programs, activities and events that prepare a human being who adheres to his religious constants and national values, who is proud of his country and his leadership, civilization, history and national symbols, and has the values of moderation." He also affirmed that the ministry would give these efforts more care and attention that enable it to achieve its strategic goals in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
