The Ministry of Education has launched the program of summer campaigns to raise awareness and eradicate illiteracy (remotely) for the summer of 1442 AH (2021) in a number of regions and governorates of the Kingdom.
The program continues for a period of two months in Madinah Region, Asir Region, and Al-Qunfudhah Governorate. The program includes a number of educational, educational, cultural, health, social and awareness programs and events, in addition to enrichment activities that serve male and female students in developing their life skills.
These programs are provided by a group of teachers who are specialized in a number of academic subjects, including Arabic language, Islamic studies and mathematics, with the aim of eradicating the beneficiaries' illiteracy and providing them with scientific skills that contribute to pushing them to work, raising their the level of awareness. In addition to enhancing the beneficiaries' positive interaction with society and their contribution to development.
The summer campaigns to raise awareness and eradicate illiteracy are one of the educational programs supervised by the Ministry of Education represented by the General Department of Continuing Education in which several bodies participate. These campaigns target a group of citizens in their places of residence to equip them with basic skills, and to spread cultural, social and health awareness among the targeted people, as well as to enhance the sense of national belonging.
The Ministry of Education seeks to expand the concept of adult education from literacy to a broader concept of continuing education and lifelong learning in order to develop the scientific, knowledge and cultural aspect of the sons and daughters of the nation so that they can keep pace with global developments in various fields. Moreover, the skills of the twenty-first century in education and learning, and the requirements of the 4th Industrial Revolution, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and sustainable development.
