His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, met today, Tuesday, the Italian Minister of Public Education, Patrizio Bianchi, during his attendance at the meeting of education ministers of G20 countries in Catania, Italy.
The meeting dealt with areas of common cooperation between the Kingdom and Italy in the educational aspects, scientific and research partnerships between universities in the two friendly countries, as well as the work agendas for the meeting of G20 education ministers.
During the meeting, the Italian Minister of Education praised the great and distinguished efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the G20 Summit 2020, and the special interest in the education file and its return to the summit agenda. He stressed that the meetings of the Education Group during the year of the Kingdom’s presidency dealt with important priorities represented in the universality of education, early childhood and education in times of crisis. All these issues enjoyed full agreement from the education group, which reflected the size of the efforts and coordination made by the Kingdom at all levels. He noted, " the success achieved by the Kingdom in distance education during the Corona pandemic is a leading global model, and we will work in Italy to benefit from this model is to link the Italian regions to a single education platform, such as the Madrasati platform in Saudi Arabia" .
The meeting was attended by the President of the Saudi Electronic University Dr. Lilak Al-Safadi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for International Cooperation Dr. Saleh Al-Qasumi, the General Supervisor of E-Learning and Distance Education Dr. Ohud Al-Faris, the General Supervisor of Media and Communication at the Ministry of Education Dr. Ahmed Al-Jumai’ah, and the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Omari.
