Saudi Arabia now has 14 universities in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 That number is an improvement from the nine universities listed in 2019

As part of the efforts by the Ministry of Education to improve outcomes and achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals, Saudi Arabia has made progress in the general index of the QS World University Rankings. With only nine universities making the list in 2019, now there are 14 universities in the rankings in 2022.
Three of those universities have progressed in the QS World University Rankings by Subjects 2022: King Abdulaziz University, King Saud University, and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Two of them made the top 100 rankings.
Making the greatest leap was King Abdulaziz University, ranking among the top 100 international universities in the fields of engineering and technology. It is ranked 51st, moving up 125 places from the QS rankings of 2019. In addition, King Abdulaziz University has QS rankings in four other subjects. Rising 78 places from 2019 in the field of natural sciences, the university is now ranked 132 globally. In life sciences and medicine, the university moved up 94 places from 2019 to receive a global ranking of 109th place. In social sciences and management, the university rose 245 places from 2019 to earn a ranking of 104 on the list. In arts and humanities, it is ranked 102 after previously being ranked 271 on the list.
The other institution to make the top 100 rankings is King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. The university advanced 83 places from the 2019 list to be ranked 87th in engineering and technology. In the field of natural sciences, the university earned a global ranking of 281, which is 119 places higher than its previous ranking in 2019.  
King Saud University appeared on the list in three different subjects. In engineering and technology, the university was ranked 185th, progressing 80 places from 2019. In natural sciences, the university is globally ranked 295th, which is 106 places higher than 2019. In life sciences and medicine, King Saud ranked 171st, climbing 83 places from 2019. Also, it moved up 57 places since 2019 to receive a world ranking of 319 in social sciences and management.
The QS World University Rankings by Subjects are based on standards of development and innovation in more than 1,300 universities around the world. In addition, the university’s research efforts to influence the local and international environment are major factors. The rankings also take into consideration the  employers’ appreciation of academic efforts in educating students and preparing them in the best way that suits the needs of the labor market.
