
The Ministry of Education begins implementing a program to measure reading comprehension for elementary school students on a weekly basis, through simulated test models of the international test PIRLS, within the summer educational support centers "remotely" via the "Madrasati" platform for the academic year 2021, which was recently launched by the Ministry.
This program comes as a continuation of the Ministry of Education’s plan to promote simulated tests of the international study tests to measure the progress of reading literacy in the world, PIRLS, for all students in the Saudi Kingdom in the fourth grade of primary school. The Ministry is keen to measure and develop students’ language skills, raise the level of academic achievement for primary school students. Moreover, it will enhance reading and writing skills within the framework of the Ministry of Education’s implementation this year 2021, the international test PIRLS with the aim of supporting policies, projects and programs that contribute to raising the levels of students.
The Ministry is working to promote tests simulating to the international study tests to assess the progress of reading literacy in the world, PIRLS, for primary school students; In order to measure and develop students’ language skills, raise the level of academic achievement for primary school students, as well as enhance reading and writing skills. The Ministry of Education seeks, through these tests, to provide students with the skill of reading literacy comprehension, and to determine their levels, as it intends to implement a training project on strategies for teaching reading comprehension.
The mechanism of weekly measurement of reading literacy for primary school students in the summer educational support centers depends on the follow-up of implementation by the leaders of the centers and educational supervisors, and submitting a weekly report to the Ministry.
