
The Ministry of Education continues to provide online summer campaigns to raise awareness and eradicate illiteracy for the academic year 1442 AH (2021) to citizens in remote places in regions and governorates, with the participation of a number of government sectors and relevant civil society institutions to provide various services under the supervision of the Ministry.
The Ministry of Education has identified a number of regions to be targeted in its campaign ( the Medina region, the Asir region, and the Makkah region), which include a set of educational, cultural, health, social, and awareness programs and activities, in addition to enrichment activities that serve male and female students in developing their life skills.
The summer campaigns aiming at raising awareness and eradicate illiteracy will last for two months and will end on the fourth of next Dhu Al-Hijjah (July 25, 2021) , and they are presented at times that suit students, in the morning or in the evening, provided that the school day includes four lessons per day, five days a week, and the duration of the lesson is 45 minutes, presented by elite male and female teachers who specialize in a number of subjects, including Arabic, Islamic studies and mathematics.
The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the strategic objective of the summer campaigns includes ensuring an equitable and inclusive quality education for all, enhancing lifelong learning opportunities for all, eradicating alphabetic illiteracy among male and female citizens in villages and remote areas in regions and governorates, contributing to reducing illiteracy, as well as consolidating belongingness, loyalty, patriotism and leadership in the hearts of students, and spreading their religious, health and social awareness.
The Ministry of Education has formed a supervisory committee in the education departments that implement the campaigns to set the conditions, controls, and tasks for the selection of participating volunteers, secure all the needs and requirements of the campaign from the Education Directorates and select and nominate the supervisory, educational and administrative body in accordance with the tasks assigned to it and the nomination controls. The Education Directorate also undertakes the preparation, training, supervision, and follow-up of the assigned volunteers to work throughout their assignment and evaluate their performance.
