
The Ministry of Education held a workshop on Tuesday , June 1, 2021 in the presence of a number of officials and directors of supervision offices, educational supervisors, and specialists in curricula and planning to review the curriculum development project and study plans, and to strengthen the partnership with the Ministry's employees in the curricula development.
The workshop dealt with the latest developments of implementing the three semesters in the next academic year and discussing the opinions of specialists and academics on its application in general education schools and preparation for this stage. In addition to discussing some important decisions about the curricula, the justifications for its development, and the methodology of work during the coming period.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for General Education, Dr. Muhammad Al-Meqbel, clarified that the ministry aims, through the development of curricula and study plans, to raise learning outcomes, improve the Kingdom’s results in the international tests, bridge the gap between the educational ladder years and the actual years of study that reach four years, and provide students with skills of life, enrichment, and educational knowledge, in line with the aspirations of Vision 2030. He pointed to the increase in the number of academic hours for the elementary and intermediate stages in general education schools.
The General Supervisor of the Ministry's Admission and Registration Department, Dr. Fahad Al-Suhaimi, said: “The International tests are among the most important indicators that measure the performance of the educational system, through which one can know the level of curricula and the study plans and their suitability for the basic skills ”. He reviewed the comparisons in the most prominent international tests in which the ministry participated, stressing that the analysis of the results of international tests and the reference comparisons of the relative weights in the subjects are considered an essential step in the work methodology to study the reality of the study plans and their development.
For his part, the General Supervisor of the Executive Program for the Development of the tracks, Study Plans, and Academies, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Humaidan presented the plan of the General Secondary track System, stressing that it contributes to improving and raising the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and learning processes in addition to the administrative and supervisory processes in the educational system. He indicated the consistency of the new school subjects with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the development plans, and the Kingdom's vision 2030, explaining that they will be taught within new specialized tracks in which students will be classified through screening and classification scales that ensure the achievement of efficiency and effectiveness.
