The Ministry of Education organized today; Sunday, a remote workshop entitled the "knowledge exchange platform", under the patronage of His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation, Dr. Mohammad bin Ahmed Al-Sudairi, to introduce the services provided by the knowledge exchange platform, and highlight the roles played by the Ministry in supporting the research system and innovation in Saudi universities.
Dr. Al-Sudairi reviewed, in his speech during the workshop, several initiatives launched by the Ministry of Education represented by the Agency for Research and Innovation to enhance scientific research and innovation efforts in universities and government research centers. These initiatives aim to keep pace with the changes of the era, improve learning outcomes, benefit from various programs and applications, and enable optimal investment in modern technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, to complete the efforts made in providing the necessary capabilities that contribute to improving cooperation between the public and private sectors and Saudi universities, through the production of applied scientific research that supports advancing the national development.
The Deputy Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation asserted, " The ministry seeks to increase the contribution of researchers in Saudi universities by finding applied solutions based on solid scientific foundations and the challenges and obstacles faced by local sectors" . He added, " The ministry is working on to develop the knowledge exchange platform, which aims to enable electronic linkage between the benefitted entities from the public and private sectors on the one hand, and among the distinguished experts of researchers in Saudi universities and research centers on the other hand.
After that, the workshop was launched, which discussed the state of scientific research and innovation in Saudi universities and its role in achieving national priorities within its first theme. The second theme addressed the role of universities and researchers and their responsibility in dealing with the platform. The third theme of the workshop addressed the role and responsibility of public and private agencies and entities in dealing with the platform. The fourth theme discussed the role of universities and researchers and how to benefit from the platform.
The workshop was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Research and Innovation, Dr. Nasser bin Mohammad Al-Aqili, a number of university vice-rectors for graduate studies, scientific research and entrepreneurship, heads of companies and university technology valleys, Saudi researchers, in addition to the participation of many government agencies, and large and medium companies from the private sector.
