The UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Education, Professor Sir Steve Smith, praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in developing the education system, praising the Kingdom's experience in distance education, and its remarkable success in continuing the educational process without stopping during Covid-19 pandemic.
Professor Smith praised the Madrasati platform as a global model and its selection among the four best global models by UNESCO during his visit today with the accompanying delegation to the headquarters of the Satellite Broadcasting School. They were received by His Excellency the Acting Vice Minister of Education, Dr. Saad Al Fahaid. Professor Smith commended the accompanying equipment represented in the launch of 24 educational channels operating 24 hours a day to broadcast lessons with more than 200 lessons daily. He pointed to the Kingdom's keenness to provide fair educational opportunities for all categories of students and their various circumstances by allocating three channels for people with special education and providing lessons in all "IEN" Satellite channels in sign language.
Professor Smith stressed the depth of the relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Britain, pointing to the importance of strengthening it at the level of education in its various stages, general and university, and in all fields, as it would contribute to developing the education system and fostering relations between the two friendly countries.
The visit included a brief explanation about the satellite broadcasting school, presented by the Deputy of the Ministry for General Education, Dr. Mohammad Al-Meqbil. The presentation included an introduction to the school and broadcasting studios, the mechanism of filming and recording lessons, as well as educational supervision processes for their content. Dr. Ohoud Al-Fares, the General Supervisor of E-learning and Distance Education, gave a presentation on Madrasati and EIN Satellite Channels and the global numbers that have been registered since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic until today.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy of the Ministry for General Education, Dr. Mohammed Al-Meqbil, and the Deputy of the Ministry for Educational Programs Dr. Maha Al-Sulaiman, and the General Supervisor of E-Learning and Distance Education Dr. Ohoud Al-Fares. The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Deputy of the Ministry for International Cooperation Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Omari, and the General Supervisor of the Public Department For Media and Communication Dr. Ahmed Al-Jumaiah, and the General Supervisor of the General Administration of Relations, Mr. Saleh Al-Thubaiti.
