His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sheikh, met today, Monday, the UK Prime Minister's Special Representative for Education, Prof. Sir Steve Smith, in the context of enhancing educational, academic, and research cooperation opportunities, and sharing best practices and experiences between the two friendly countries.
The two sides discussed the successes of the educational partnership between the two countries as one of the fruits of the historic visit of His Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Britain in 2018, where the two countries signed a joint statement, during which the Council of Strategic Partnership between the two countries was launched.
The meeting dealt with the great efforts exerted by the Kingdom and Britain in the special interest in the education file, the areas of joint cooperation in aspects of general education, the educational curricula development, and the track system program for the secondary school, as well as the education of talented and students with special needs. The meeting also discussed cooperation in the fields of university education, and scientific research, recognition of academic qualifications, in addition to scientific and research partnerships between universities in the two friendly countries, in addition to strengthening cooperation in the field of hybrid learning and distance education
The Minister of Education reviewed with the British Prime Minister's Special Representative for Education and his accompanying delegation the most prominent files that will be presented on the meeting table of the Education World Forum (EWF), which will be held early next year 2022, on top of which are the common challenges in the field of education.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Acting Vice Minister of Education Dr. Saad Al Fahaid, His Excellency the Vice Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation Dr. Mohammed Al-Sudairi, His Excellency the Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, Dr. Ahmed Al-Fahaid, His Excellency the UK Ambassador to Riyadh Mr. Neil Crompton, and a number of officials in the two countries
