The Ministry of Education has launched programs and initiatives to achieve Vision 2030's goals of building a knowledge society based on the knowledge economy, building an integrated e-learning system, and using and investing in modern technologies according to the latest international practices and methodologies for educational digital solutions.
The Ministry of Education's efforts in digital transactions have included employing digital transformation programs in the educational process and benefiting from technical tools and mechanisms to serve e-learning and distance education, which have contributed to providing education to more than six million students. Moreover, the ministry has expanded the employment of technology and the governance of its application through the General Department of E-Learning and Distance Education, and has made the Saudi Digital Library and open educational data available to all interested, specialists and researchers, enhancing electronic community participation, as well as developing interactive digital textbooks.
The Ministry of Education keeps up with technological development and is participating in the LEAP 2023 Conference, which is organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. It has provided 9 interactive digital platforms and services that support the student’s current and future academic journey to achieve the comprehensive quality that serves the educational process, develops its performance, and enhances its gains. These include the "Rawdati" and "Madrasati" platforms, which provide different operating models for e-learning and distance education; "the Virtual School," which serves school students in remote areas; and the "Ikhtebar" platform for the Central Examinations. They also include the "Noor" platform, which is the comprehensive information system for managing the educational process; the "SAFEER 2" platform, which provides services to scholarship students; and the "Qualified" platform, which provides academic documents digitally to graduates and students in general education.
The Ministry continues to work on establishing and developing a number of future services in the student’s educational journey. These contain the unified portal for education services that serves all employees of the education sector, the electronic enrolment service at the beginning of the school year, the expense service for managing canteens and school feeding, the student’s expense account, and the school transportation service for student registration in school transportation. Moreover, they include the "SAFIR Plus" platform, which provides smart electronic services within a unified framework to facilitate the procedures for studying abroad by employing technologies, international practices, and standards in digital transformation in order to meet all the needs of students abroad. As well as the "University Network," which is a business path to link the ministry's services with educational university institutions, in addition to the "Unified Student File" service for all student data.
