His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al Sheikh, will participate tomorrow, Friday, in the G20 Research Ministers' meeting which will be held in Trieste, Italy. It is the first independent meeting of research ministers in the history of the Group of Twenty after it was introduced by the Italian Presidency a year ago.
The ministerial research meeting under the Italian G20 presidency 2021 aims at linking the academic community with the continuous digital transformation, improving the link between higher education and the digital economy, as well as enhancing the role of university education in managing the change in the society, and preparing university education institutions to perform their tasks in education, research, and innovation.
During the meeting, ministers and delegates' heads will discuss the advancement of digital skills, raising awareness about them in university education, promoting common values in the management of digital technologies, in addition to ensuring the quality of communication and infrastructure within the opportunities of the international cooperation that are provided by digital technologies, and adopting the final ministerial declaration of the G20 research ministers 2021.
The agenda of the G20 Research Ministers’ meeting includes the participation of a number of ministers in interventions highlighting the efforts and strategies that have been implemented in the field of scientific research and their implementation in their countries during the Covid-19 pandemic and explaining their contribution to the development and growth of research and innovation in the inclusive education.
