His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, discussed with the officials of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) ways to finance the strategic plan of the partnership during the next five years, during his participation in the Global Education Summit : Financing the Global Partnership for Education 2021-2025 in London in the United Kingdom.
Today, Wednesday, His Excellency met Jakaya Kikwete, the Chairman-elect of the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education, in addition to its CEO, Alice Albright.
During the meeting, the Global Partnership officials noted the great interest that the Kingdom ascribed to education at the local, regional and international levels, appreciating the Kingdom’s main role in including education as a core topic on the main agenda of its presidency of G20 in 2020, and placing education as a major component of the Kingdom’s vision 2030, as well as the Kingdom’s financing of various initiatives in many vital fields, especially education.
The Minister of Education discussed with officials of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) mechanisms for developing a road map to transform education systems in lower-income countries, and to support and finance high-quality educational services for all children in these countries; to take advantage of 21st century opportunities and improve access to inclusive and equitable education by sharing best practices, studying the latest regulations, and listening to experts and youth from around the world.
The strategic plan 2021-2025 for the Global Partnership for Education depends on the success achieved in financing of no less than (5) billion dollars, and the resulting positive transformations in the education systems in (90) countries and territories of the world, which include more than one billion children. In addition to taking advantage of the radical shifts towards achieving inclusion, quality, efficiency, and gender equality in education, and enabling the governments of those countries to make the systematic changes they desire, especially in light of the actual challenges faced by the budgets of education systems in low-income countries during the pandemic.
