
His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, met today, Wednesday, the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, and the Special Representative of the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister for Education, Steve Smith, during his participation in the Global Education Summit: Financing the Global Partnership for Education 2021-2025 in London.
The Minister Al-Sheikh discussed with the education officials in the United Kingdom the most prominent files that will be presented on the table of the Global Education Summit: Financing of the Global Partnership for Education hosted by the United Kingdom under the patronage of its Prime Minister Boris Johnson, especially the mechanisms for supporting and financing the provision of quality education for all children around the world, particularly in lower-income countries, bridging the educational gap between the sexes, as well as supporting the efforts of the targeted countries to accelerate progress to confront population growth, and the increase in poverty and inequality rates that have exacerbated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of joint cooperation between the Kingdom and Britain in aspects of public education, higher education, and scientific research, as well as scientific and research partnerships between universities in the two friendly countries and ways to develop them.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy of the Ministry of Education for International Cooperation, Dr. Saleh Al-Qassumi, and the Cultural Attaché in Britain, Dr. Amal Fatani.
